The root of living a holistic life stemmed far back during the 5th century B.C. from when Siddhartha Gautama, more commonly known as Buddha, released the steps of how one can be on the path to enlightenment. This is the process in which an individual will slowly eliminate suffering from his life and could only be done by rejecting earthly desires. This is because Buddha believed that with desire, causes suffering. Whether that be alcohol, women, unhealthy food, money, it all resorts to illness, sadness and greed. This is why the path of enlightenment was crafted which gives a thorough explanation of Buddhahood. Buddhahood is the state of an awakened being, who, having found the path of cessation of dukkha (suffering) It is capped with the name of Buddha for he was the first one to ever complete the path to enlightenment. The teachings of the Buddha are mostly aimed at liberating humans as sentient beings from suffering. The Basic Teachings of Buddha which are core to Buddhism are; The Three Universal Truths; Everything is impermanent and changing, Impermanence leads to suffering, making life imperfect and The self is not personal and unchanging. The Four Noble Truths; More simply put, suffering exists; it has a cause; it has an end; and it has a cause to bring about its end and The Noble Eightfold Path. Which are widely credited on 'How to be Enlightened?' Though being the first recognized Buddha, Gautama insist that he was not the first to become a Buddha. "There have been many Buddhas before me and will be many Buddhas in the future," The Gautama said to his disciples. "All living beings have the Buddha nature and can become Buddhas." For this reason, he taught the way to Buddhahood which still is a present way of life up until today.
In a Buddhist's perception as capped by Buddha; There is no belief in a personal god. Nothing is fixed or permanent and change is always possible. The impermanence of everything was a vital key to making the path to enlightenment. You only have so little time to enjoy and prosper what the universe has to offer and it is only just to want to spend those precious time living the right way, the way to enlightenment. With enlightenment comes nirvana, it is the state that gives pure bliss to an individual having been following the eightfold path and the main chakras aligned and perfectly.
