WHAT IS SPIRITUALITY?
Spirituality became a very conventional term nowadays. People use it in various ways as becoming spiritual becomes a very usual way of living, from being physically healthy to being emotionally stable coupled by a spiritual wisdom that often goes hand in hand with virtue. But in a more usual context. Spirituality is often more talked about in a religious scene, as almost all religions preach that this being is as close as to how we are initially created. It aims to recover the original shape of man, it is the religious re-affirmation of that process. But of course, with a lot going on in this world, spirituality has more definition now more than ever. It became a very broad concept with room for many perspectives as everyone, to some extent has a very different level of perceptions. In general, it includes a sense of connection or connectedness, it links to something bigger than ourselves, and more often than not, it typically involves a search for meaning in life. As such, it is a universal human experience, something that touches us all.
Spirituality practically gives life its purpose, finding it is a process of finding what we're here for so therefore, in search for this is typically in search of our raw, true self. Spirituality has a lot to do with an individual having a sense of peace and purpose in life. There are as many different ways of expressing spirituality as there are 'spiritual' people and one major way of expressing spirituality is religion. Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, the list goes on and on, with varying doctrines and stories, revelations but all almost has the same goal masked and marinated into different things. Being spiritually healthy becomes an absolute must for it acts as some sort of a way that yields and ripples to more positive things in every aspect of one's life. Healthy spirituality gives an individual a sense of peace, wholeness and balance among the physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of their lives. However, for most people, like most good things, the path to such spirituality passes through struggles and suffering and often includes experiences that are frightening and painful. But attaining a spiritually sound mind would mean that you have programmed yourself to be at par and linked to many important aspects of your own human functioning; spiritual people have positive relationships, high self-esteem, are optimistic, and have meaning and purpose fin life. It will definitely answer your questions as to why you're here and what is your purpose and will absolutely give a pop of colour and meaning to your seemingly marooned shell of a life.
Apart from making sense of life, spirituality will also help you attain valuable qualities that will help you lead a life of less suffering. These qualities are; positive thinking, inner peace, egoless, unconditional love, optimism, harmony, humility, responsibility, compassion, justice, simplicity and reciprocity. To name a few very vital ones that will definitely bring you a lot more steps closer to attaining your dreams as attaining spirituality brings you a huge leap forward to being your better and authentic self. Often it is also regarded as something that connects our mere human form into something greater than the eyes can perceive and that is also true. But not in the usual way most people think, being spiritually inclined is not connecting with a greater being that is God-like but rather, it is a profound connection of oneself to their higher and more profound self. It is simply just a deep connection of oneself to their own and it yields very positive results.
